Work Description:

This commercial was created to enhance the recognition and image of the Tateyama Kagaku Group.

Filming took place in Canada, with scenes featuring a parent and child shot in residential areas and studios in Vancouver, natural landscapes in the Canadian Rockies National Park, and a camper van parked at a farm near Mount Robson in Jasper.

The producer, director, and an advertising agency representative traveled from Japan, and the filming team was made up of American and Canadian staff.

Tateyama Kagaku Group had previously created several commercials focusing on the grandeur and mystery of natural science, which led to the idea for the Aurora Edition.

The aim was to present the often impersonal and complex world of science as “actually very human and full of dreams,” a message that was conveyed in both the planning and direction of the commercial.

The dialogue between the boy, Steve, and his father became a hit, and the association of the Tateyama Kagaku Group and Aurora became firmly established after the commercial aired. The company logo itself even features an aurora design.

In 2018, the second installment of the Aurora Edition was released, where Steve, now an adult, a researcher, and a father, makes a return. The interaction between the grown-up Steve and his son mirrors the dynamic of the first commercial.

The town located in Jasper National Park, in the central part of the Canadian Rockies, in the southwestern part of Canada.
