Kanazawa City expresses that the collections at the new museum in the downtown will be modern and contemporary [25-year ago today]

 

At the Kanazawa City Council Special Committee on Urban Development, the manager of the Kanazawa City Urban Policy Department stated the “Contemporary Art Museum (tentative name)” planned for the site of the former Kanazawa University Elementary and Junior High School would purchase modern and contemporary artworks. Besides, the works by local artists and artworks from Japan and overseas after 1980 could be candidates in the collection list, which gave the museum a distinctive character.

The current name is the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. The name went open to the Kanazawa City Council Standing Committee on General Affairs in 2001.
