Discovering a Deeper Stay Experience in Hokuriku's Local Inns: Kai Kaga Edition

This series highlights the fabulous inns across the three Hokuriku prefectures, aiming to enhance local travel experiences for nearby visitors.

Previous articles introduced a key phrase for enjoying local trips: “engaging with the inn” rather than simply “consuming the inn.” “Engaging with the inn” refers to a proactive approach, where guests assume the role of sophisticated travelers, savoring a one- or two-night stay (or even a longer visit), rather than taking a passive approach.

In this article, we’ll put the concept above into practice at Kai Kaga (Kaga City), one of the resorts under the Hoshino Resorts brand, which operates nationwide. Although not a local Hokuriku ryokan, it is part of the Hoshino Resort collection of hot spring inns, alongside other locations such as Tsugaru, Nikko, Hakone, Atami, and Beppu, and now also in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

Hiroyuki Akashi, the writer of the exploration journal, is also the producer of Hokuroku. He manages and produces inns such as Mizube no Minka Hotel (Imizu City), Kane no Sansun (Takaoka City), and Yuno Sato Ikemori Annex AMAZA (Himi City). Akashi stays at around 100 hotels and inns annually, and in this piece, he shares how he enjoys the Hoshino Resorts hot spring accommodations.

Akashi is known for his rigorous approach to space and experience creation. As a result, the journal does not indulge in excessive praise or emotional excitement about the stay. Instead, it offers insightful analysis and valuable tips for enjoying a unique experience nearby.

Akashi examines the interplay of light and shadow, delves into the modern design of the entrance hall, and provides a deep exploration of the experience. This article will be a must-read for anyone in the hospitality industry, space and place creation, or those with a creative profession or lifestyle.
