The first test ride of a pleasure boat began operating at Toyama City’s Fugan Canal Kansui Kouen Park. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the deputy director of the prefectural civil engineering department and the president of Nihonkai Gas, 100 local kindergarten children enjoyed a test ride.
A pleasure boat could carry about 50 passengers. It usually operated on Matsukawa and was transported by a crane to Fugan Canal Kansui Kouen Park. It ran twice on that day.
Q. Why did it start operating?
The Pleasure boats went into service on the Fugan Canal, which opened in 1934, to commemorate the holding of the National Canal Summit in Toyama.
After the test ride, it started operating four times a day at the end of the week.
