The Toyama Jomon (Stone Age) Festival started at Crossland Oyabe in Oyabe City, and many visitors came to see the National Jomon Exhibition.

The National Jomon (Stone Age) Summit also started at the venue, and participants discussed utilizing the Stone Age lifestyle and relics to revitalize the local area.

Q. Why was the Jomon Festival kicked off in Oyabe?

Oyabe City, Toyama, is home to the Sakuramachi ruins, which stretch about one km east to west and 600 meters north to south, and the city has been conducting excavation surveys.

Researchers unearthed a pillar from a Jomon-period (Stone Age) raised-floor building in the Funaoka district in a valley in 1988, a large amount of processed wood in 1997, and a circular row of wooden pillars unique to the Hokuriku region in 2000.
