JAS flights stopped due to a strike between Tokyo and Komatsu [25-year ago today]

Japan Air System (JAS) flights between Tokyo and Komatsu Airport were canceled due to a crew strike.

The flights of the same route will stop the following day, the 20th, and nearly 600 people will be obliged to take other means of transportation.

Q. What is the Japan Air System (JAS)?

JAS was Japan’s third-largest air carrier before merging with Japan Airlines (JAL) in 2004.

JAPAN AIR SYSTEM is an English name, and its abbreviation is JAS.

This carrier was originally Toa Domestic Airlines, a merging company with Japan Domestic Airlines and Toa Airlines in 1971, and changed its name to Japan Air System in 1988.

After establishing a holding company with Japan Airlines (JAL) and becoming a subsidiary of it, Japan Air System (JAS) got full integration with Japan Airlines (JAL).
