Two high school students drifted away in the Jinzu River, but fishermen rescued [25-year ago today]
Male and female high school students drifted away about 200 meters upstream of the Toyama Ohashi Bridge in Isobe town, Toyama City; two fishermen fishing about 100 meters downstream rescued them.
The male student was uninjured, but the female student swept downstream further. She drank a lot of water and received treatment at Toyama Red Cross Hospital, but her life was not in danger.
Q. Why did they drift away?
The high school students were members of the brass band and had a barbecue party on the bank of the Jinzu River.
After the end of the gathering, the remaining members played on the sandbar of the Jinzu River, and the two got stuck in the deep water and drifted away.
