A child left Japan from Komatsu Airport, who received treatment for “eye cancer” at Kanazawa University Hospital [25-year ago today]
A 3-year-old child from the Autonomous Province of Kosovo in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia departed for Tokyo from Komatsu Airport. He received treatment for retinoblastoma (a malignant tumor of the retina) at Kanazawa University Hospital. He will return home after greeting his supporters in Tokyo.
Q. Why did he receive treatment at Kanazawa University Hospital?
The child was unable to receive treatment in his country due to the conflict related to the independence of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo. The Asian Medical Association requested Kanazawa University Hospital via the Japan-Albania Association. The hospital’s head nurse congratulated him on his release, although she felt sad saying goodbye.
