Phone Booths at Kanazawa’s Katamachi Removed Due to Pink Flyers [25 Years Ago Today]
On this day, NTT West Kanazawa Branch removed three public phone booths installed in 1992 near the Katamachi Scramble Crossing in Kanazawa City. The booths were removed in response to local requests, as they were being used for advertising by sex establishments (outcall services) through pink flyers.
Q: How were the public phone booths removed?
The phone devices inside the booths were removed during the day, and the booth structures were carried away at night by a crane truck operated by contractors. Three booths were removed on the 22nd, and the remaining three were removed by the 26th, making six booths. The cost of removal was approximately 1 million yen.
