Arrows Hokuriku’s JFL Membership Approved [25-Year Ago Today]

The Executive Committee of the Japan Football League (JFL), the highest amateur football league, approved the membership of Arrows Hokuriku (Toyama).

Q. What is Arrows Hokuriku?

Arrows Hokuriku is the predecessor of Kataller Toyama, originally founded as the Hokuriku Electric Power Company Soccer Club in 1990. It changed its name to Arrows Hokuriku in 1996.

After winning the 1999 Regional League Championship, it joined the Japan Football League (JFL), the highest amateur league, in 2000, finishing 8th out of 12 teams with a record of 8 wins and 14 losses.

While continuing in the JFL under the slogan “A J-League team from Toyama Prefecture,” Arrows Hokuriku merged with the YKK AP Soccer Club and became the current Kataller Toyama in 2007.

The team secured promotion to the J2 (J-League 2) in 2008 and officially joined in 2009. In 2015, they were relegated to J3 (J-League 3), but in 2024, they achieved promotion back to J2 and will begin competing in 2025.
