The Story of Adding Myself to Wikipedia: Apologies for the Self-Promotion

The world’s largest online encyclopedia, Wikipedia. When you search for people, companies, or product names and find them listed, it changes your impression a bit, doesn’t it?

So, our web media team based in the Hokuriku region in Japan decided to create a page about ourselves.

However, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Information that is not neutral or promotional content is destined to be deleted by volunteer editors.

What information about Hokuroku should be included in an encyclopedia entry? We researched and practiced it carefully.

If you are planning to write your company’s name or services on Wikipedia, or if you are simply interested in “How can I get on Wikipedia?”, this article is a must-read.

Of course, even if you use Wikipedia to gather information, read until the end. By understanding Wikipedia better, you might find yourself thinking, “Maybe I’ll try writing or editing information about the Hokuriku region.”

It would be wonderful if your neutral and valuable contributions about the Hokuriku region in Japan could lead to more travelers or new residents coming to the area.
